Social Programs

Get Together
Date: Monday, March 31, 18:00 - 20:00
Place: Kyoto International Conference Center, Banquet Hall "Swan"

All participants are cordially invited to the Get Together with buffet. "Maiko" will welcome you. This will be a chance for you to talk with "Maiko."

Welcome Reception
Date: Tuesday, April 1, 18:00 - 20:00
Place: Daikakuji Temple, Temple garden in front of the "Shinden."

All participants are cordially invited to the Welcome Reception with buffet dinner.

* Please put on something warm; because the weather is chilly in spring evening.
* Try not wear high heels because of inconvenience when walking on gravel paths in shrines, temples, and gardens.

i. The buses will leave for Daikakuji at 17:00-17:20 in front of the Main entrance of ICC Kyoto.
ii. The buses from Daikakuji are available.

Banquet
Date: Wednesday, April 2, 19:00 - 21:00
Place: Westin Miyako Hotel, Banquet Room "Yamashiro-no-ma"
Fee: ¥10,000

* Please exchange your Banquet ticket with your seating card (Table number) at the reception desk.

i. The buses will leave for Westin Miyako Hotel at 18:00-18:20 in front of the Main entrance of ICC Kyoto.
ii. The buses from Westin Miyako Hotel are available.

Miyako Odori & Farewell Party
Date: Thursday, April 3, 15:30 - 21:00
Place: Gion Kaburenjo Theater (a Spring Dance Performance)
Heian-Shrine (Private Cherry Tree Concert and Farewell Party)
Fee: ¥8,000

* You should bring your name-tag to the Farewell Party, because only participants of the Bárány Society Meeting are invited.

i. The buses will start at 15:00-15:20 in front of the Main entrance of ICC Kyoto.
ii. The buses from Heian shrine are available.

Tours in Kyoto

Tuesday, April 1, 2008, 9:00 - 15:00

OP - 1 Nijo Castle, Kimono Studio & Japanese Culture
Course: ICC Kyoto - Nijo Castle - Kimono Studio - lunch - the head master's residence of Misho-ryu Sasaoka School - ICC Kyoto & each hotel

i. A visit & experience of Kimono designs
ii. Flower arrangement performance and Practice of the tea ceremony
iii. This tour has a limited number of seats.
iiii. The Jumbo taxies will start at 9:00 in front of the Main entrance of ICC Kyoto.

Wednesday, April 2, 9:00 - 15:00

OP - 2 Kinkakuji Temple (Golden Pavilion), Ryoanji Zen Rock Garden & Lunch on a boat at Arashiyama
Course: ICC Kyoto - Kinkakuji Temple - Ryoanji Zen Rock Garden - Lunch on a boat & stroll near Arashiyama* - ICC Kyoto

i. The bus will start at 9:00 in front of the Main entrance of ICC Kyoto.

* Free time (1 hour) at Arashiyama
You can spend your time:
- Strolling around the Arashiyama and Togetsukyo area,
- Enjoy the 30- to 40-minute walk in the Beautiful Bamboo Grove with a guide.

Thursday, April 3, 8:00 - 12:30

OP - 3 Zen Meditation & a Traditional District near Kiyomizu Temple
Course: ICC Kyoto - Zen meditation at Kenninji Temple - a light breakfast - stroll in the traditional district near Kiyomizu Temple - ICC Kyoto

i. The bus will start at 8:00 in front of the Main entrance of ICC Kyoto.

* Please come to the Main entrance of ICC Kyoto with your name-tag 15 minutes before each tour starts.
* An English speaking guide is available on every tour.
